OC1 Top Finishers
Another successful weekend for Vertra Paddlers Danny Ching (California) and Travis Grant (Australia.) The duo once again competed head to head in the 2-day competition on the world famous Maliko Gultch downwind run. Day 1 was the SUP 8-mile downwind race and Day 2 was the OC1 race.
After only a few days rest since last weekend’s Quiksilver Waikiki Paddle Festival, Travis Grant fought his way to the podium in the Day 1 SUP event. Grant crossed the line 2nd in a time of 48:27 just a few seconds in front of teammate Danny Ching (3rd Place) who completed the course in 48:38. Kai Lenny finished 7th overall in 50:34.
On day 2 however is was Danny Ching who would take the 1st place trophy in the OC1 event with a time of 49:20. Travis Grant would finish 2nd 50:03 and Jimmy Austin rounding out the top 3 in a time of 50:46.
