Vertra: Elemental Resistance’s paddlesports team heads to Catalina Island for the 2011 Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race. This annual event marks the end of the paddleboarding season as athletes get set to navigate the channel starting at Two Harbors on Catalina Island and finishing at Manhattan Pier 32 miles later.
Competing in this years Catalina Classic will be George Plsek, Anthony Vela and Brian Rocheleau in the mens unlimited division and Jack Bark and Eric Abbott in the mens stock paddleboard division. At the 2010 Catalina Crossing Rocheleau, Vela and Plsek finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th consecutivley in the unlimited division. This crossing will mark Jack Bark’s first ever Catalina crossing in addition to being the youngest competitor in the history of the event. Bark dominated the 2011 Rock2Rock event in addition to 1st overall team in the 2011 Molokai2Oahu World Championship. Abbott coming off a win at the 2011 Molokai2Oahu World Championships will be back on Catalina as well for this years crossing.
