Strong showing for Vertra at 2011 Santa Monica Pier Ocean Festival

Vertra paddlesports athletes competed tops at last weekends Honolua Santa Monica Paddleboard Race and Ocean Festival. Anthony Vela took top honors in the Mens Unlimited prone with Jack Bark winning the Mens overall Stock prone division. Vela was last years event overall winner, so he was looking to repeat in the same fashion. Santa Barbara’s Matt Becker won the Men’s 14ft. SUP Division (17-39 years old.) This was Becker’s first race since returning from Iceland where he was on a SUP surf and paddle expedition with the Blueline Team. Vela and Bark will be heading over to Oahu in late July for the 2011 Molokai to Oahu paddleboard and SUP World Championships.
